Benton Harbor Charter School Academy is a Leader in Me School
We are proud to be a Leader in Me school, empowering students to discover their strengths, take ownership of their learning, and develop essential leadership and life skills. Through goal setting, teamwork, responsibility, and leadership opportunities, students learn to make a positive difference in their school and community. We encourage every student to recognize their unique strengths, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to lead with purpose and make a difference.
Benton Harbor Charter School Academy empowers every child to succeed as an individual.
We are a tuition-free public school serving students in preschool through eighth grade in the Benton Harbor area. Small class sizes allow teachers to provide personalized attention, while a structured environment helps students learn safely and confidently. High academic standards encourage every child to reach their full potential, and a strong focus on character development prepares students to become thoughtful, responsible, and caring members of their community.

What Others Are Saying
"BHCS Academy is a wonderful environment, not only for students but for the staff as well. The teachers are great to work with and everyone is so positive-I just love it! I haven’t been here long, but I can tell the teachers love their jobs, as do the rest of the staff. Everyone has such passion for being here – it’s contagious!"
Staff Member
"Because I am a BHCS Academy team member and parent, I see both sides of this great school. I work with an amazing team of people. We have such a burning desire to see our children grasp everything possible so they can run with it. The hard work and dedication that everyone puts forth is amazing. Not often are you able to find such a large group of people who have such compassion for what they do."
Parent
“The greatest benefit is seeing the effect on my children. They have developed so much character and personality during the past two years at BHCS Academy. This school has made learning exciting for them and they are proud to say they attend BHCS Academy.”
Tiffany, Parent
“To me, Charter is something more than just a school- it’s a place where they take learning to another level. At BHCS Academy they treat everyone like family. As a parent, you will always know what is going on with your child, instead of just at conference time. I appreciate that.”
Erica, Parent
“What Charter means to my children and me is togetherness, caring, and structure. Most of all, Charter is a wonderful opportunity for learning.”
