CONGRATULATIONS TO LITERACY GRANT RECIPIENTS Great news! All schools within the Choice network have been awarded the Early Literacy Grant! A huge thank you goes out to all of the Literacy Coaches and Carrie Paddock for their hard work to meet the grant deadline. What does this mean for you and your school? It means more great materials, books and professional development opportunities. We are so excited to see the impact of this grant in the students.
Congratulations to Benton Harbor Charter School Academy for receiving the Outstanding Compliance Award for Exemplary Performance from their authorizer Ferris State University. Keeping on top of all the documents, forms and data necessary to satisfy federal, state and contract requirements is a huge responsibility. The BCHSA compliance teams deserve a special shout out for their year-long commitment and achievement of 100% on-time compliance for the fourth year in a row!
We received a $21,590 school security grant! We are one of 22 charter schools in the state to have received the Michigan Competitive School Safety Grant Program from the Michigan State Police. 7th graders at Benton Harbor Charter School Academy are developing business plans with their business startup mentors to present to THE SHARKS in June. The Sharks really are coming! Mentors are volunteers from Whirlpool Corporation, United Way, Boys and Girls Clubs, and Mosaic CCDA. Alloyd Blackmon of Whirlpool is coordinating the mentors who are paired up with a 7th grader to develop his or her business plan and presentation to the Sharks.
